Throw away the razors and say goodbye to the hassle of shaving and hello to beautifully silky skin with waxing at Illumin8 Beauty Salon. Our cosy and stylish Wimbledon Village salon welcomes you for a professional and effective waxing experience. Our guide below will outline the benefits of waxing and offer tips on how to maintain smooth, long-lasting results after your treatment
Pre Waxing Tips:
Before your waxing appointment, it’s important to prepare your skin properly to achieve the best results. Here are some tips recommended by Paula, our waxing expert:
1. Hair Length:
To ensure that your hair is effectively removed from the roots, it should be at least 0.5 centimeters long. This length allows for a cleaner and more thorough waxing experience.
2. Transitioning from Shaving:
If you have been shaving the area within the last few weeks, it may take a couple of waxes to synchronize your hair growth cycle. Regular waxing will help your hair to grow in a consistent pattern, resulting in a smoother and more long-lasting wax finish.
During and Post Waxing Care:
After your waxing session, proper care is crucial to maintain the health and appearance of your skin. Consider the following tips:
1.Temporary Redness:
It’s normal to experience a little bit of redness immediately after your waxing session. This redness should subside within a few hours. Applying a cool compress and soothing aloe vera gel can help calm the skin and reduce any discomfort.
2. Delicate Areas
Some women find they’re more sensitive to pain during or just before their period, so it could be a good idea to book your appointments around this time. Although Illumin8 Beauty therapists are super experienced and take great care when waxing delicate and intimate areas, some clients choose to take an ibuprofen around 30 minutes before.
3. Avoid Heat and Sun Exposure:
To protect your recently waxed skin, avoid sunbathing, hot baths or vigorous exercise for at least 12 hours after waxing. Heat and sunlight can cause irritation and sensitivity, so it’s essential to give your skin time to recover.
4. Regular Exfoliation:
Maintaining healthy and smooth skin before and after waxing is essential, so incorporate regular exfoliation into your skincare routine using an oil-based product. This will help remove dead skin cells while keeping your skin hydrated and supple. You can even enhance the exfoliating process by adding a little sugar or salt to your body oil for extra exfoliation but remember to rinse thoroughly after exfoliating.
5. Time and Sunscreen:
If you plan to be out in the sun after waxing, it’s important to note that oil-based products can increase sensitivity to the sun’s rays. Therefore, it’s advisable to use oil-based products as part of your nighttime routine and opt for sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from burning and hypersensitivity.
